“I could do this voice, or that read, or this style. But my voice talent doesn’t matter. What matters is how we use it to bring your production to life. That’s what I love to do. And that’s what I want to do with you.” - Doug de Nance
Moving easily from a hard edged, hard boiled street savvy rasp, to a provocative rumbling purr, to the friendly neighbor next door, to unbridled ripping enthusiasm, Doug has a voice versatility that serves so many situations. His subtle shading, infectious inflection and nimble nuance, provides his clients with an adaptable and flexible tool to tell their stories. One of the foundational fundamentals of Doug's professionalism is preparation. A rabid reader and researcher, he filters his learning with the intent to unearth ideas to help his clients win. In that same spirit of preparation, Doug continues to study the craft of voice work to constantly enhance his talent - from books and audio programs, to actively participating in courses and classes. He retains a private voice coach as well as a network of mentors, professionals and experts.
Doug records on Steinberg Cubase and masters with WaveLab PC software using a variety of recording equipment. He has both permanent and mobile studio options.
“Ultimately, it’s business as they say – at the end of a commercial we want someone to be predisposed to buy something. Doug can do it.” - Brian Carnwath, Taco Time
A child actor, Doug developed his vocal abilities early through singing and learning to project from the stage. In his early teens, Doug was awarded a select audio-visual internship in an exclusive three year program piloted in his school. His first commercial work began in high school, co-hosting a recruitment video.
Graduating in Public Relations from Mount Royal College, Doug forged a pattern of a love of learning by enhancing his initial career development to maximize his vocal talents through the Columbia School of Broadcasting.
Beginning as a radio disc jockey in 1979, commercial “act-vertising” production soon became the calling that proved to be the foundation of Doug’s voice talent success. Full time writing and commercial production eventually was relegated to every evening, as Doug began to consult with clients directly. Over a 20 year advertising advisory career – voicing, writing and positioning his clients - his number one priority always has been to help his clients win. While spending the last 10 years mentoring young people in the art of sales, Doug continues to creatively put his voice talent to work for his clients.
